‘Fjúk’ - Zine

£10.00

'Fjúk' is a 44 page full colour book / zine
Which collates drawings, paintings, collages and other paper based bumf made on my first residency in Iceland back in the 2015.

‘Fjúk’, pronounced Fyook and Icelandic for Drifting snow, was the name of the non-profit Arts centre set up in the old fishermen´s baiting rooms of Húsavík harbour in the North of Iceland, where my residency occurred.

During my residency I attempted to recreate my studio from home by surrounding myself with found materials to play with, whilst taking inspiration from my immediate surroundings. This entailed travelling 60 odd miles to the nearest charity shop in Akureyi and purchasing over 25 copies of a children’s Christian magazine Æskan amongst other things. Before cutting them all up and seeing what happened.

At the end of my residency I showcased the pieces made as a giant collage on the walls of the studio. This zine uses this collaged way of working to layout the pieces in book form.

Launched at Brighton Art Book Fair in 2024.
